Rotary Adventure in Citizenship (RAIC)


An intensive and fun filled week-long program for Year 11 students ‘inside’ Canberra to thoroughly learn about parliamentary and democratic processes and prepare the young adults for full participation as citizens of Australia.

     Plus visits to local cultural institutions, meet other delegates, and have fun.

     Organised by the Rotary Clubs of Murrumbidgee Canberra and of Canberra in conjunction with the Parliamentary Education Office.   

Learn about:

  • The Australian constitution
  • Your role in citizenship
  • The Australian Parliament
  • The work of Commonwealth members of parliament

At RAIC you will:

  • Meet fellow students from around Australia
  • Share your passions and views
  • Learn about how parliament works and democratic processes
  • Meet senators, members of parliament and parliamentary officers
  • Participate in role-plays of the parliamentary process
  • Visit the Australian War Memorial
  • Explore the National Science and Technology Centre (Questacon)
  • Visit the Royal Military College, Duntroon
  • Visit the Australian Institute of Sport
  • Visit other cultural institutions
  • Have fun and make friends

The parliamentary program is facilitated by Parliamentary Education Office educators at Parliament House and includes role-play, guest speakers, parliamentary chamber visits and an opportunity to meet your federal member of parliament
