Trishaw cycle rides for the elderly

International Cycling Without Age network

Cycling Without Age is a not-for-profit charity that provides a community service by connecting those no longer able to ride for themselves with their community and the outdoors by giving them free rides on trishaw ebikes, piloted by volunteer cyclists.

We have an electric-assist 'trioBike taxi'

Ride the ‘a couch on wheels’ taking the residents out and about.

Our trishaw takes aged residents on the southside for rides as part of the Cycling Without Age program.

This is the third tri-shaw for Cycling Without Age in Canberra – the other two are at Kangara Waters residential aged care facility in Belconnen.

Become a pilot

Pilots ride the tri-shaw and take residents out and about, to the shops, to the lake or wherever people want to go.

If you can ride a bike and have a desire to help others, then becoming a pilot is a simple process.

We will train you to understand the tri-shaw operations and to allow you and residents to come together for fun rides.

There are no commitments as to when you should be available – you decide when you can ride and then your services can be offered to residents. Or you can have regular times and/or passengers. It’s up to you and the residents.

We believe that everyone should have access to the freedom and joy of cycling, regardless of their age and ability.

That’s why Murrumbidgee Canberra Rotary has partnered with the local community to provide trishaw rides to people living in aged care.

Our Cycling Without Age trishaw rides are part of a global volunteer movement driven by the motivation to give elderly people the right to wind in their hair.
